Constantine the Philosopher University (UKF) is a public university founded in 1992 as the University of Education in Nitra which became a successor of Pedagogic Institute established in 1959 and Faculty of Education (1964). University of Education in Nitra has been renamed to UKF in 1996.

Long-Term Strategy
The main mission of Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra is to offer higher education and to develop knowledge on the basis of creative, scientific, and artistic work, as well as to participate in the development of education, science, culture and health of society. Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra is an open type of the university which enforces the multicultural principles of the education and offers the own professional profile of a student. The university creates conditions for research of the life and works of Constantine the Philosopher and the Cyril-Methodian tradition.

Evaluation of the University
The evaluation of Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra by the Institutional Evaluation Programme of European University Association (EUA) has finished. The evaluation was requested by UKF. UKF wrote the Self-Evaluation Report and organized two visits of EUA experts team. The visits were held on April 17 – 20, 2007 and on October 1 – 3, 2007. The final Evaluation Report of Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra was delivered to UKF on December 3, 2007.

UKF is situated in the town of Nitra, a district and regional administrative centre. The university premises are situated in three town districts. Teaching also take place in the Faculty Hospital, and in the Andrej Bagar´s Theatre, as well as in other rented places all around the town.
